Trying your best doesn't help in bad systems

However, in 85% of cases, the damage lies in ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ๐, as William Edwards Deming established. You can replace individuals until youโre blue in the face, but it won't help: the system will ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐๐ผ๐๐๐น๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฝ new people. And it disrupts the people themselves.
That means: If your system is damaged, no amount of motivation, rewards, or punishments will help improve the end result. (Wasted money! A bottomless pit!)
But how do you identify these patterns in your organization? Organization coach Philippe Bailleurย reveals this in "From Dividing to Healing", a podcast by Marijke Leys.
If the same problems keep popping up ๐น๐ถ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐บ๐ผ๐น๐ฒ๐ต๐ถ๐น๐น๐ ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฎ๐ป๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป'๐ ๐ด๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป, then observe them curiously like an anthropologist.
What strikes you?
๐What do you want to protect yourself from?
๐What is shifting within you?
This way, you uncover systemic traumas and provide management with tools to repair the system (structures, habits, processes).

"There's no point in urging people to try harder if the system isn't right," says Philippe Bailleur.

๐๏ธwhy prevention campaigns do or don't work,
๐๏ธwhy you do or don't find ambassadors,
๐๏ธwhy change communication succeeds or fails.
If you're reading this post, the answer probably isn't to try even harder. ๐
