De blinde vlek van ijzergebrek

The blind spot of iron deficiency

I've run marathons barefoot.
Since my second pregnancy during the peak of the corona pandemic, I lived with invisible iron deficiency.
Fluctuating around the lower limit.
Not alarming for doctors.
But it was for my body.

My body that managed to protect me and my son in uncertain times.
That kept scraping energy from increasingly empty reservoirs.
That got used to doing the impossible on an empty fuel tank.

It is grateful today.
For the attentive observation.
For the correct diagnosis.
For every microgram of iron that, after years,
- finally, finally, finally! -
brings me where I want to be:
With the effortless energy to live instead of just survive.

Do you have unexplained muscle pain? Are you often tired, dizzy, or does your battery not charge properly?
Then have your iron stores (ferritin) checked. First.
Vitamins are not a luxury; they are the foundation of your body.
I wish you a strong year!

🙏 Share this podcast with all the women in your network:
- many receive an incorrect diagnosis,
- it's not looked into if hemoglobin is good,
- the established lower limit is often too low,
- with a correct diagnosis, treatment is not long enough or done incorrectly.
